UK: Slough and Burnham Ahmadi Muslims Lay Wreath on Remembrance Sunday

For the fourth year in a row, hundreds of Ahmadi Muslims  - including young children - took part in the British Poppy Appeal – by selling poppies across the country.

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough represented the Muslim faith at the Remembrance Sunday Ceremony held by the Royal British Legion that covers Burnham and Slough on Sunday November 8th 2015.

Members from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough were asked to take part in the official procession that began at 9.45am from the offices of the Royal British Legion in Burnham town.

The procession marched through Burnham high street to the memorial grounds just outside of St. Peter’s Church - where the official laying of the wreath ceremony took place.

The President – Mr Mobashir Ahmad Tahir - and Vice President – Mr Atiq Ahmad Bhatti - for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough then lay a wreath on behalf of the Community.

This is the third year that members from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community have been given the opportunity to lay a wreath at Remembrance Sunday, and succeeded their recent annual poppy collections on behalf of the Royal British Legion under the banner of Love For All, Hatred For None.

For the fourth year in a row, hundreds of Ahmadi Muslims  - including young children - took part in the British Poppy Appeal – by selling poppies across the country.

Over the last two weekends, members of the Slough Community have been raising money by selling poppies at supermarkets and stadiums.

Vice President, Atiq Ahmad Bhatti, said:

“This year has been another amazing year in terms of our collections for the annual Poppy Appeal and our relationship and friendship with the Royal British Legion of Burnham and Slough has been strengthened even further.

Laying the Wreath is a great honour indeed and enables us to put forward our hand of peace and friendship so that we may continue to work together for the betterment of society and of course to remember those who have lost their lives during wars protecting us and this wonderful United Kingdom.”
